Great Advice is Based on Experience & Research

We built AdviceHR because we saw the gaps in the PEO and health insurance industries and grew tired of conventional thinking.
After years inside PEOs and the brokered health insurance space, we saw the same problems over and over again. Businesses were sold into PEOs that were never the right fit. Loyal clients overpaid for years without realizing it. And in many cases, brokers worked under compensation models that rewarded higher premiums instead of better outcomes for their clients.

That weighed on us. So we built something different.

At AdviceHR we are dual specialized in both PEO services and health insurance. It means we see the full picture across both worlds, with one allegiance. Yours.

No sales reps. We do the work, bring you the analysis, and give you our honest recommendation. Whether that’s keeping what you have, renegotiating what you have, or building something entirely different.

Transparency isn’t a feature we offer. It’s the reason we exist. Why? Ecclesiastes 7:1 says “A good reputation is better than a fat bank account.”

Why Choose Us?

Dual Specialization: PEO + Health Insurance
Most firms do one or the other. We do both deeply. Our background inside PEOs and brokered health insurance allows us to evaluate the full picture: benefits, pricing, plan design, risk, and longterm cost trajectories. That means maximum cost effectiveness, scalability, fewer surprises, and strategies built for sustainability, not shortterm wins.

Radical Transparency
Our prenegotiated contracts eliminate hidden fees and provide clear, predictable pricing. No solution covers everything on a wish list, but we clearly outline what’s included, what isn’t, and where the tradeoffs are so you can make informed decisions with eyes wide open.

ClientFirst Philosophy
In an industry where incentives are often misaligned, our approach is simple: do what’s right for the client. We believe longterm relationships and referrals are earned by placing you with the best solution for your needs. In turn that yields way more compensation than the most profitable option for us.

Dedicated Advocacy
From day one, you have a personal advocate who stays actively involved, helping you select, implement, and continually evaluate the right strategy as your needs evolve.

Our insights have been featured by outlets such as Human Resources Today, reaching more than 300,000 HR professionals each month, along with Vistage, Entrepreneurs Organization and others. With us, you gain more than a broker, you gain a longterm partner focused on your success.

John-Paul Macedo

John-Paul (“JP”) Macedo is the Founder of AdviceHR, a consulting firm dedicated to helping organizations reduce healthcare costs, optimize HR operations, and build employee benefit strategies that support long-term business growth.

With expertise spanning the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) industry, health insurance, and employee benefits consulting, JP brings a unique perspective that few advisors can offer. His career began in the PEO space, where he worked with industry leaders including Insperity and CoAdvantage before expanding into the healthcare and benefits sector.

While working with a national third-party administrator, JP advised more than 65 independent and national insurance agencies across the country on employee benefits strategies. Combined with his PEO experience, this provided him with a rare perspective on the strengths and shortcomings of both traditional health insurance and PEO models, allowing him to identify opportunities that many advisors overlook.

Throughout his career, JP has served on advisory committees supporting organizations such as Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) and Vistage and was selected to participate in industry think tanks representing more than 600 advisors nationwide. These experiences helped shape his strategic approach to helping business leaders navigate rising healthcare costs, workforce challenges, compliance requirements, and operational inefficiencies.

What differentiates JP is his ability to bridge the gap between HR strategy, employee benefits, and business performance. Rather than promoting a single solution, he evaluates organizations holistically, helping leadership teams identify the most effective combination of benefits, HR technology, payroll, risk management, and workforce strategies to achieve their objectives.
